Meet The Team

Khudeja Sattar - Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist Registered MBACP (Accred) and Clinical Supervisor

I am an Accredited Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Supervision:

I provide clinical supervision for qualified and trainee therapists. I have completed the training of the Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision including Online and Telephone Working with Counselling Tutor Ltd. The theory I apply in supervision is The 7-Eyed Model of Supervision, developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet.

Counselling and Psychotherapy:

My journey as a qualified therapist began in 2011. During my experience I have worked in a variety of settings from voluntary placements, GP surgeries, charity organisations, Pause - Forward Thinking Birmingham, UHB Trust and my own private practice.

I apply an integrative theoretical approach in my therapy work, encompassing an amalgamation of the theoretical background and skills of the main counselling modalities; Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural therapy.

In addition, I can provide an Islamic Counselling approach; the theoretical approaches are applied to suit the best needs of the client.

The main focus within the work I provide is to explore two main objectives:

  1. Anything that affects your quality of life.
  2. Anything that delays or prevents you from being a better person/best version of yourself.
Any other areas I advise to leave - 'if it ain't broke; no need to fix it.'

The goals and objectives of the therapy I provide is to gain exploration through a talking therapy by increasing your self-awareness. The aim is to facilitate you in helping you to help yourself; as we know sometimes life can have its challenges. With the right tools and self-reflection it is possible to respond in a way which facilitates growth and healing. This, I hope will support you to reach your greatest potential by fulfilling your aspiration in becoming a better version of yourself.

I am frequently asked what is therapy, particularly when a new client embarks on an unknown journey for the first time. I would say this journey is all about you. To give yourself the time to get to know you better.  Therapy is certainly a journey of the self and how we relate to others and ascertain your efforts to live your best quality of life.

Therapy helps build resilience and facilitate better communications. It helps us to explore how we communicate with ourselves and others and often how assumptions are made and can be far from the truth.  The importance of building positive relationships is: Time + Communication = Understanding.

Our emotional wellbeing and mental health are just as important as our physical health. There is still some stigma relating to seeking support for our mental health.  Often, I have noticed society does not hesitate in accessing support for their physical health and rush to the GP for support however what about our mental and emotional pain? Why should this be any different as both can be distressing in their own way.

If you feel you require support for your mental health and emotional wellbeing, please do get in touch to begin your therapeutic journey of the self.

Zaynah Plummer-Josephs-Integrative Counsellor Registered MBACP and Clinical Supervisor in Training

I have recently completed the taught training of Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision Including Online and Telephone Working with Counselling Tutor Ltd. The 7-Eyed Model of Supervision, developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet is the theory that is applied in the supervision I provide.

I initially started my career as a Psychiatric Nurse, which inspired me to embark on a career in Counselling. In 2002 I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor on an accredited course. I provide an Integrative approach amalgamating Person Centred Therapy, Transactional analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I am an Integrative Counsellor in private practice; I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Registered MBACP).

Psychodynamic and Spiritual Counselling. My inspiration relating to the theory applied arises from the interaction with the client, enabling the client to explore their feelings and emotions in a safe, confidential and therapeutic way.

Counselling is often an emotional journey, which is at times upsetting for many, but if we have the courage to embrace our vulnerabilities and face our fears it can liberate us in ways we could never imagine. Counselling is a talking therapy which helps us to deal with many difficult issues and conditions allowing us to become more resilient & reflective. If we can define who we are and what we need through counselling, then we are on our way to fulfilling our true potential.

I have many year's experience of working with families, individuals and couples, who have allowed me to support them through an emotional yet liberating journey to become more resilient and lead a more fulfilling life.
